Okay. Dear $taffies. What the fuck. No, I am dead serious. What the actual fuck. Guys, Web 2.0 died as a concept back in 2004 for a reason. You are literally designing a site based on ten year old design principles of how connectivity and featuresets work.
What you are doing right now is a prime example of a development team that has no idea what's going on outside their little bubble. It's honestly sad, it's a little like watching that retarded kid that was dropped down the stairs head-first stick a fork into the electrical outlet while covered in saline water. Guys, hashtags don't mean shit. Literally only twitter has used hastags with any kind of success. Hastags are a tool, not a fucking feature to re-create the site around. So, you guys now think that dA is a microblogging site? Really? I'm not even going to mention the status updates. How painfully obvious can you be in your pandering?
Well, as we are here anyway, I might as well teach you a couple of things:
In digital design, there is a concept that's called Feature Creep. You guys are sticking your dick into that concept and wiggling it around, wrecking the shit out of the service you provide. What is your goal? Do hashtags, Motion comic support, points, llama bdges and all of the #features you are adding mindlessly helping? No.
Remember the KISS principle? No? Let me brush it up for you: KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID. If you aren't good enough at making advanced features, don't. Keep it short, simple and sweet.
Also, you guys are failing at THE UTTERMOST BASIC PARTS OF USER INTERFACE DESIGN.
And as a final note, take a look at how User Experience Design is done.
deviantART, you are not twitter or facebook. Remember that.
